Curriculum
TLCS uses an accredited Christian-based curriculum that fully aligns with the requirements of Botswana Ministry of Education. Our students receive appropriate grade-level knowledge and consistently achieve or exceed grade-level scores on national levels.
Our class student-to-teacher ratio is kept as low as possible with each of our experienced and exceptional teachers having the support full time teacher’s aides. Our teachers and aids work as a team allowing for the flexibility necessary to educate the whole child, based on individual needs.
Reception
This lively academic program will help to develop your child’s desire to learn from an early age. Our educational foundation introduces age appropriate reading, writing, and numbers skills as well as dedicated focus on the development of visual perception, listening skills, and motor skills. Rounded out with a daily focus on lessons in character and social development through play, music, art, and language development.
Lower & Upper Primary
Our Primary students are taught with a Christian-based curriculum that fully aligns with the Botswana government syllabus requirements. We recognize that every child is different and brings with them a unique combination of experiences, attitudes and aptitudes around learning. Our rich, responsive curriculum is created to engage children and give them a love for learning in a nurturing environment that helps give them the foundation on which all future schooling builds.
Junior & Senior Secondary
At the Secondary level the core academic curriculum begins to integrate an IGCSE syllabus in Forms 1 & 2 and is fully taught from Form 3 through Form 5. The curriculum framework is designed in such a way to give TLCS student’s continuity of learning as well as academic disciplines that will serve them far beyond their time here with us. Our staff use an approach to teaching and learning that allows students to actively construct meaning through engagement in relevant experiences enabling them to acquire new levels of understanding as opposed to the simple memorization of content.
Special Needs Education
We are privileged at TLCS to be able to offer a Special Needs Education at both the Primary and Secondary levels. Special education students use the same curriculum and instruction as their peers, however, it is tailored to meet the individual need of each student. If your child qualifies for special education, he’ll receive individualized teaching and other key resources to help he or she succeed. The teachers who work with your child will focus on his strengths as well as his challenges giving them the very best opportunities to move forward in school and in life.
Sports & Extra-Curricular Activities
Here at TLCS learning is certainly not limited to the classroom, and much of what makes our school special is our extensive extra-curricular activities including intramural and interscholastic teams in football, cricket, netball, chess, basketball, athletics and swimming.
We also offer classes in French, Music, and Drama
